Formed in Buffalo, New York, in 1986, the Goo Goo Dolls developed from punk and alternative roots into one of pop rock's most enduring acts. Fronted by vocalist and guitarist John Rzeznik alongside bassist and vocalist Robby Takac, the band broke through to a broad audience with Dizzy Up the Girl (1998), featuring the enduring hits “Iris,” “Slide” and “Black Balloon.” “Iris,” also featured in the film City of Angels, became a defining song for the group and a signature live singalong.
The band's catalog spans more than a dozen studio albums, from A Boy Named Goo and Gutterflower to Chaos in Bloom (2022), which includes “Miracle Pill,” “Just a Man” and “New Day Coming.” Their emotionally direct songwriting and guitar-led sound have helped connect with fans across generations. Live performances are known for energetic delivery and crowd participation, with “Iris” often serving as a memorable closing or encore moment.
For this Tampa date, the announced lineup includes Def Leppard and The Struts; the supplied event information does not identify a separate opening act. The combination gives the evening a broad rock range, from the Goo Goo Dolls' melodic alternative pop rock to the other performers' arena-ready sound.
Benchmark International Arena is an indoor arena in downtown Tampa, suited to large-scale concerts and full-band productions. Arena seating offers different ways to experience the show: floor seats place fans close to the stage, while elevated sections can provide a wider view of the performers and lighting. Exact layouts may vary by concert configuration, so check the event seating map before choosing tickets.
For a multi-artist concert, consider whether proximity or an overall view matters more to your experience. Lower-level seats can balance stage visibility and distance, while upper-level seats may offer a broader perspective at a different price point. No specific section is guaranteed to be best for every attendee; sightlines and available configurations can depend on the event setup.
Downtown Tampa has a mix of parking facilities and public-street spaces. Availability, rates and restrictions can change for major events, so confirm current details with the operator before setting out. Arriving early can provide more time to park and walk to the arena.
